Dimana Teuku Markam pernah mendekam di penjara karena suatu insiden. Lalu setelah keluar dari penjara ia tak bisa menjadi tentara lagi dan memutuskan untuk menjadi pengusaha sukses, sampai kemudian ia menyumbangkan emas sebanyak 28 kg untuk pembangunan Monas di era Soekarno.
Namun saat periode baru saat pemerintahan Soeharto, lagi-lagi ia harus dijebloskan ke penjara tanpa pengadilan yang jelas. Ia dituduh sebagai pki dan seorang koruptor. Sampai akhirnya sosok beliau harus tutup usia pada tahun 1985 karena penyakit komplikasi yang ia derita.
